What is the Flanders Frontier Ultra?

The Flanders Frontiers Ultra is a self-supported cycling challenge that takes you past the battlefields of the First World War and through the historic soul of French Flanders.
Choose between 360km or 180km along iconic sites such as Tyne Cot Cemetery, the Menin Gate, the hills of the Heuvelland, and the legendary Kemmelberg.

No follow-up vehicles. No support.
Just you, your bike and the story you write.

360 km - 3000 D+
The Long Frontier

• 22 hour time limit
• Pure groundbreaking
• Full experience of the extended historical route

180km - 1400 D+
The half frontier

• 10 hour time limit
• Intense historical cycling experience
• Short and sweet

An Ultra with a Soul

This is no ordinary ultra.
This is cycling through a landscape that breathes history.

From the silent graves of Tyne Cot, past the gate where thousands of names whisper in Ypres, to the open plains of French Flanders.

And further, where the land meets the sea:
past Cap Blanc-Nez and Cap Gris-Nez, where white limestone cliffs rise and England appears like a promise on the horizon in clear weather.

Here every kilometer carries a story.
And during Flanders Frontiers Ultra you write your own chapter.

The Long and Half Frontier

Drafting is prohibited
Possibility to follow participants live online.
A lamp at the front and back of the bicycle is mandatory.
A fluorescent jacket or belt is required from sunset onwards (available for purchase upon registration).
Spoke reflectors required (possibility to purchase upon registration).
Helmet, survival blanket, tire change kit and navigation system required.
Allowed bicycles: all non-electric bicycles.

Self Supported – Pure Ultra

• No follow-up vehicles or personal assistance
During the Flanders Frontier Ultra, you're completely on your own. No team cars, no personal supplies—you set your own pace and make your own decisions.

• Self Supported
You bring all your own energy, drinks, repairs, and spare parts, or buy them along the way. This makes every choice you make part of your challenge.

• Navigation via GPX
You'll follow the official route you receive in advance as a GPX file. A properly functioning GPS device or bike computer is essential for error-free riding. If you leave the course, you'll return to the same point to complete it.

• Respect for landscape, history and other participants
You'll ride through places of unique historical significance. Keep the trail clean, show respect for the environment, and for every other Frontier rider on the route.
